Woohoo our last day of lockdown!

Another relaxing Sunday to mark our last day in French lockdown. We have been designated a green area in the French lockdown and tomorrow we will be able to walk on the beaches, go for as long a walk as we like, no forms to fill in and restaurants will be open for take aways.

Always a lot of the Sunday Times to plough through on a Sunday morning. We thought we would walk early to avoid the midday heat and we had a morning call booked with the kids. It was still boiling hot in town by 9:30am! We walked in the opposite direction today but the roads have no sidewalks and it was a little nerve wracking as I think Sunday is when the young go joy riding through town. The big thing for them is to go done the main road on one wheel on their motor bikes, making a hell of a racket!

We didn’t get that far and decided we would sneak back onto the beach and walk along it away from the road, however it wasn’t long before a local suggested we get off the beach or the police would be after us, so we obediently left it.

Strange enormous fruit, some growing straight out of the trunk.

Walk along the black volcanic beach before being chased off!

Mt Pelee in the direct line of the town

All very quiet (besides motorbikes) on a Sunday and there are only 3 boats here at anchor so very tranquil. We spoke to the kids who were all on good form, Hannie’s enjoying having wifi and catching up. Phoeb’s had a traumatic day, the duckling’s enclosure blew over and they hadn’t realised. The ducklings were all missing but found eventually on the moat. Sounds like everyone was panicked and Phoebs had to finally jump in with her clothes on and go to the rescue!! Luke’s enjoying meeting up with friends who still seem to have some booze!

We had a wonderful fruit salad for lunch with fresh guavas and big fleshy skinned granadillas. Then we had our afternoon zoom quiz with friends in Norfolk, our topic was Boris Johnson which proved to be rather tough! Nobody got our final question – why did he upset the Turks? Boris won a £1000 prize for a poem about Turkish President Erdogan having sex with a goat! We did well on ‘Who said this?’ (thanks to Rowan) but our best score was on the topic of Trump!

Delicious fleshy skinned granadillas.

Pelicans fishing!

We roasted our very expensive chook on the BBQ for supper which was delicious, accompanied with a fava bean and aubergine Rowan special! Another still sunset to end the day.
