We headed into town in the morning. Rowan and Claudette went to customs while I went to the big supermarket we visited when we first arrived, which had far more variety than yesterdays, both Chinese owned. I remembered the first supermarket had NZ powdered yoghurt kits for plain natural yoghurt, which I am going to resort to as I have no yoghurt left to use as my mother, and nowhere sells fresh yoghurt. I also topped up with their fishing hooks as presents for locals as we are always asked for them.
Customs was a breeze apparently the guy was there and was happy to see them. We popped into the pharmacy, as Rowan wants us to buy ringworm medicine as he we have spotted some kids covered in it, it is an unusual ringworm that makes concentric rings and covers huge areas of the kids bodies. Ugh terribly contagious and these poor kids want to interact. The islanders just don’t have access or the money for treatment. The worm is called Grille here, and the pharmacy has soaps, creams, solutions and tablets to take for it, so we stocked up with plenty to hand out, and some for ourselves just in case!
Then to the market where we bought every avocado we could find. Stocked up on loads of fruit and veg, always fun looking at the various unusual greens . Back to the boat for a big unpack and tidy up for our guests. Rowan went for a snorkel on the reef near us, he said the coral was not bad, but the visibility wasn’t great.
