Rowan had a good night and is looking much better this morning, although still walking fairly gingerly. We’ve got quite a few things going on so we are staying put. Very frustrating for Rowan as he doesn’t like marinas, but very sensible. Jeldi Jeldi’s new cover was fitted, we’re very pleased with it. We got the Freezer back, and a few more things ticked off the list.
I walked to the far end of town to go to the China Bazaar to get mosquito netting. I’m making a big screen for the sliding doors and for some of the hatches. It felt like an African trading store, very basic and dark, but very well stocked and luckily they did have mosquito nets. There is a definite sense of things opening up. On the way I came across this lovely old house, that is now a historical monument, belonged to a French General when the Brits and French were fighting over these Caribbean islands. There was a very chatty local lady who was about to start cleaning it, as it has been closed for so long over lockdown. Sadly she said it was a mess and I couldn’t go in. The garden had these lovely ancient mango trees that she said were well over 100 years old.

Ancient Mango tree.

We ordered a take away for lunch, sadly nobody is doing evening take aways yet. It was a bit hot to be having a full on meal, but it was delicious. I had fish with local veg and R had a wonderful rack of lamb. It felt like a real treat. We have booked to go to the restaurant on our last night here, next Tuesday night, it is their first day they open up to sitting guests.
We are interviewing a couple tomorrow to join us as crew to Grenada, we just feel it is safer thing to do in case R’s back is still painful.
