Valentine’s day, our 34th wedding anniversary!

Lazy Sunday start, digesting the Sunday papers and a very late breakfast! We then tried to have a family call, a bit of a logistical nightmare, with everyone on different time zones, we aimed for Phoebs at 8am which was 8pm for Han out in the bush where they go to bed so early and have hit and miss signal. Luke was still working at 6pm on a Sunday and it was 2pm for us, we were strolling the beaches looking for somewhere to have lunch.

We had hoped to have lunch at a restaurant on Lower Bay that was recommended. Sadly it looked like they were on skeleton staff, two tables having drinks but nobody eating, so we decided to go back to Keegan’s where we ate last time. Not great food, but a great location and once again the same Englishman playing the guitar. I had the shark burger which was very tasty. It is a small environment, a couple we met in Grenada were at the table next door, a Brazilian woman with her American husband. Their little boy is a great character with a mop of blonde hair, fluent already at 3 in both Portuguese and English. He has grown up on the boat and I think the mother was finding having a toddler on board quite demanding. Leonie and Jake walked passed and joined us for a drink, they are having a great time and have done a lot better than us finding good places to eat. After lunch we went back to Princess Margaret’s beach and decided to rent a couple of chairs from one of the local bars. No sooner had we sat down when the heavens opened and we had to seek shelter under a huge sail they had rigged up in the trees. It was run by an old Rasta with the longest dreadlocks, his face was an absolute picture. It was very humid, we were hemmed in by the rain, and I wondered if we were going to get high on the amount of exhaled weed smoke collected under the sail. We had a beer to pass the time and to support his bar, thinking it was a very special place to be celebrating our 34th year of marriage! The rain did not last too long and we made a dash for PolePole before more rain arrived, we were rewarded with a magnificent sunset on the boat.
