Rowan was up for his board meeting at 2am and managed to stay awake the rest of the day. I felt sleepy for him! His connectivity with Stinky held up which was good news.
After breakfast Rowan made a mad dash into the market to see if any tomatoes had arrived in the noisy supply boat that came in during the early hours of the morning. No tomatoes at the market but he was directed to a different little Chinese shop and they had some. Our breakfasts will be complete for the next week!
There is nothing here to keep us at this anchorage, so we decided with the current winds that we would go back to Uoleva where we knew what to expect, easy to get into which helps after Rowan’s early start to the day.
It is a lovely anchorage with such a gorgeous beach, it was rather nice to be back. Most of the boats that were here have gone and are replaced by newcomers, including Navisana the Indian guy we met in BoraBora. We kayaked to the beach and had a good long walk, hard work on the sloping soft sea sand. It was quite something landing the kayak on the beach with it’s small breaking wave, you cant get out too early as it shelves steeply. We got in successfully even with the distraction of the topless French lady from the ketch, who was swimming around us with her husband. She clearly never wears any kind of top with that all over tan! Getting back into the kayak after the walk proved even more shaky as we had to time the waves perfectly, we almost toppled but managed in the end. It is an inflatable kayak, so very narrow. It actually goes brilliantly, just a little unstable until you are in position.
We ended the night watching Barbie, I’m not sure if it is because we were tired and fell asleep, but we couldn’t quite work out what all the rave is about. Maybe when we watch the rest tomorrow night it will come together!
