The Wind has picked up

We got going a little late on our walk today, so we didn’t make it that far, back down the road where we found our illegal immigrant! There are so many plots for sale and a lot have paths running down towards the water to show off their view. The Canadian lady who we meet on our walks and lives near the marina (been here 24 years), stopped for a chat. She wrote to the Governor on our behalf to ‘ask permission to allow us to swim in the marina as it is private property and the curfew is only on public land’. In this small community she obviously knows some of the powers that be. Sadly she said the response had been negative, as kite surfers and people were abusing the curfew so they have made a blanket rule – nobody in the sea! A nice try anyway. She told us that she slips into the water along the iron shore (coral/limestone rocky edge) and finds a conch for supper every evening, with her Spanish airbnb tenant, who is obviously a bit more than a tenant these days. So we walked down one of the paths to the water’s edge, but think she must have the skin of a seal or something as it looked impossible to get into the water without shredding oneself. So no conch for us sadly. It is the main dish of the Bahamas and here.

Iron shore.

Made my first batch of humous today with my stick blender that Phoeb’s brought over. It has a small bowl and blade that attach to it and works like a charm. The Canadian couple fixing their boat came and joined us eating it. She is very entertaining, she lived in Costa Rico for 3 years and goes back every year. She just works 6 months of the year on the train that crosses the Rockies, as a glorified tour guide/train attendant. Enough to fund the next six months off, which is why they are here. Not a bad lifestyle for a 30 something. She is very funny and has loads of stories, I’m sure she is a very entertaining attendant on the train..

As pics are running low, I just have to include some stunning photos from Hannah.

We had a huge downpour of rain, which is the first rain we’ve had in the T&C’s. It really cleared the air and cooled things down, which made a very pleasant cool night.
