The Solar Panel Rain Gods!

Another rainy cloudy day to thwart Rowan’s solar panels …….it’s made him go all piratey!

The novelty of having so much rain makes it very pleasant for me, as it makes it a lot cooler…… but hugely frustrating for Rowan who is desperate to get his solar panels generating mega volts!

I think it is going to be a very long 2 weeks on the boat, they have written very strict guidelines, and judging by the amount of police patrols, they are determined to enforce it.

Sadly our gas tank wasn’t picked up, most probably because I put it in a bag as it was so mucky with rust, and it wasn’t spotted on the dock. Just means I can’t bake bread or make Rowan a birthday cake for Monday! It certainly will be a memorably different birthday.

Sadly whatever repairs they did to the freezer has made it worse, and we have discovered the meat is not properly frozen, so we are going to have to cook it all up. Thankfully it just manages to freeze my ice cubes! Luckily the provisioning service looks very slick. You order by phone and when it’s delivered, you phone the marina to get permission to come and pick it up, remembering your face mask and that you are not allowed off the dinghy.

I’m reading Black Diamonds, the rise and fall of the Wentworth dynasty in Yorkshire, what an incredible story about the coal mining era. I can’t believe the pit ponies lived underground all year except for 2 weeks holiday in the summer! Loads of other horrifying facts, like the illegitimate heir being sent to a Lunatic Asylum, and only discovered in the 1980’s, after 52 years being incarcerated, and he wasn’t mental at all!

It’s a very good distraction for the slow passing of time.

We are not making much progress with our route home, hoping that Grenada may be easing up on its lockdown in the next week or so, and flights may become available from here. In the meantime Rowan has put a message out on the Cruiser’s Face Book page seeing if anyone wants to charter a plane with us to Martinique. There are plenty of flights from there to Paris and then we would find a way home. Rowan’s not keen on all that flying and passing through airports, as he is a fairly high risk Covid candidate, but it may be our only way.

Another glorious sunset.

A better night time pic than yesterday.
