Sunday 11 December – back to Eben’s island!

We decided to head back to the anchorage where we first arrived, we were running out of Eben’s (just discovered this is his name, not Aden!) delicious focaccia. Well not only the bread, but it is a magical spot and Rowan had asked him to organise a trip up a river on the mainland, which he has organised for Tuesday.

We had a lovely gentle sail across with signal all the way and lots to catch up on, sadly at the anchorage there is very intermittent signal, not enough to load the blog.

Leaving Banedup with George learning the ropes

Very relaxed sailing

There were only two other boats anchored so we found a good spot to anchor and were just enjoying the idyllic setting, when we realised the big catamaran nearby was crowded with young. American uni students we think. We thought it was a day boat, but it was not to be, the drinking games got louder and louder and at 8pm in the pitch dark, the moon had not risen yet, they headed to the beach where they had enormous bonfires going with the help of locals.

Dramatic sunset

Bonfires on the beach

We sat on the trampoline and watched the stars which were putting on a magnificent display. Luke kept seeing dramatic shooting stars but I never saw one. George interestingly has the same colour blindness as Luke, they apparently did the same test and got identical results. Maybe they see the night sky slightly differently!

We stayed up until the moon finally surfaced behind the island just before 10pm, it looked very dramatic silhouetting the palm trees.
