Sunday 1 October – recovery day in a gorgeous sheltered bay

We were both pretty exhausted from our 2 night passage, so having a calm night’s sleep was a real treat. Good to have a full cooked breakfast again, our passage was so bumpy yesterday it wasn’t safe to cook, we resorted to having granola, a crime for us!

Rowan got the kayak and paddle board inflated, we had a good paddle to the beach and walked the whole length. Lovely trees along the beach giving great shade. Loads of broken coral fragments, but a surprising amount of whole shells. There was one shell I could not resist, so my penance was to litter pick, it wasn’t long before I had about 10 plastic bottles and a couple of beer cans that were 8% alcohol! The beach looked pristine, it was only when I looked under the trees at the high tide mark that I found the litter. That was our exercise for the day, Rowan has done a few odd jobs, besides that we have read the papers and enjoyed relaxing. It is much cooler here 22-24 degrees, which we are really enjoying too.

When we arrived yesterday there were 5 other boats, by night time there were 8, and today an armada of boats arrived bringing the total to about 14 boats. We think it is a crowd of boats all sailing together as dinghies have gone whizzing back and forth this afternoon, and quite a crowd headed to the beach this evening.
