Saturday 9 September – day of chores

Started the day with 3 loads of laundry, the last load had been hanging out for about 10 minutes when a squall passed with rain. Amazingly things dry incredibly quickly in a bit of sun and wind. Our kingsize bamboo sheets were already dry luckily. The afternoon I spend vacuuming and mopping the entire boat which is quite a good work out, while Rowan went out on the paddle board.

Rowan very coordinated on the paddle board

We were just having our afternoon tea when these very enterprising French kids turned up selling jewellery they had made. It was rather good, we found Rowan a necklace at long last, he has always fancied the Polynesian fish hook! These teenagers have been living on the boat for 5 years, since they left France. Two years in French Polynesia and they have no idea when they are moving on!

Rowan’s new necklace – he has the pearl bracelet, maybe a tattoo next!

We were back at the Yacht Club for supper as they had a set menu and traditional dancing. It was a fun evening and the food was pretty good. They are such friendly locals with beaming warm smiley faces. In the dance routine, the men were all tiny with slim muscly bodies while the ladies were big with very fat bellies – making their belly dancing with their cockerel feathered skirts all the more mesmerising!
