We woke up to the very good news that the hand over of Ebo onto Paladin (the gin palace) had happened successfully at first light. The doctor on board Pec was also transferred and it seems now that Ebo has his best chance of getting to hospital and with a doctor at his side. To add to all our relief at this good news, the winds have picked up to mid teens and we are once more making much better progress. Everyone had a much better night’s sleep and the mood on board has noticeably improved.

We broke the 300 mile barrier towards our destination today, the end is in sight. We have took bets over a week ago, on our arrival time, I chose Tuesday 21 in the morning and so far the predictions on the nav station have me winning!
I find it best to keep busy now, so that the last few days don’t drag by. I’m busy sewing my molas bedspread while listening to Richard E Grant which I’m really enjoying. In between I’m reading rather belatedly our book club book, The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles which I’m also thoroughly enjoying. Plus I have the newspaper to digest, not that it is enjoyable reading these days. Everyone has little projects, not sure what Nevil has to occupy himself since losing his fishing line but he seems glued to his phone, thank goodness for Stinky. Actually Rowan has given him our fishing gear and Nevil has had a line out most of the day. We feel we can justify it now as we have no fish left in the deep freeze. Rowan did teach Nevil how to play Backgammon. Megan has tweaked her back so we had a very gentle girls yoga session on the front of the boat which was just what I needed. Some good stretching.
Our routine is mocktails about 5:30pm. Nevil is masterful at these, everyday we have little surprises, he crushes ice in my tiny magimix and produces tasty treats. Today was pear juice with ginger ale , a dash of frozen maracuya (passion fruit) juice, a hint of spices and a slice of lime. I am eking out the limes, we have 20 left, they are very small and we most probably started with over 50! Thank goodness for our 4 enormous fridge drawers. Supper we aim for 6:30pm and by 8pm everyone is heading to bed after the kitchen is tidied away. I’m fast asleep by 9pm!
