Sailing around Klein Bonaire

We put our two big round fenders onto our mooring, to reserve it while we went out for a sail. The wind was high teens and perfect for a sail with Matt and Stella. They did extremely well, enthusiastically steering at the helm for ages. We circumnavigated the flat, scrubby, uninhabited island of Klein Bonaire, which is only about one km from our mooring. It is a big island with diving and snorkelling mooring balls all the way around the island. We finally found a mooring ball and managed to get attached easily. We had a wonderful snorkel in lovely coral and white sand in the calm leeward side of the island. Just a shame it was a bit cloudy, when the sun came out the colours just popped, quite incredible.

After a lazy lunch we pootled back to our mooring buoy, very happy to see our fenders had done the trick and reserved our spot. We had steaks on the bbq for supper, rounded off with our delicious pawpaw and passion fruit salad, and delicious chocolate that the Kirby’s brought a great Easter quantity of.
