Preparing for the big storm that never happened!

The weather forecast predicted a storm starting in the afternoon, and Rowan’s weather guru, Chris Parker was predicting squalls of up to 35 knots. We did a little boat cleaning and rust removal in the morning, some of you will be gobsmacked to hear that Rowan is out there scrubbing away at little specs of rust with a toothbrush! The storm rain would then wash everything beautifully clean afterwards. We saw people lifting their dinghies onto the front of their boats, and decided we better get into action and secure everything tightly and stow everything away safely.

Making sure everything is securely tied down. Good view of the new solar panels.

We had lunch and then waited and waited, we could see the big weather pattern on our Predict wind, just circling the other side of the island. The afternoon passed by without a drop of rain. It was rather bizarre as I was rather looking forward to the storm, we knew it wasn’t going to be too severe and I do feel very safe in Pole Pole, it would definitely add a little spice to our rather boring lives at the moment. By sundowners it appeared to pass us by and we wondered if we would be hit during the night as it circled around. We could see the storm clouds, huge big high white fluffy clouds and by sunset they were burning bright white with the sun and then long after the sun set they turned pink. Quite spectacular and dramatic. As Phoebs likes to say – all fart and no poo!

Big ships in the bay seeking shelter from the storm we assumed.

The white fury!

Turning pink!

Phoebs and crew at Mettingham are having a very anxious time letting their ducklings fledge. Overnight they only had 7 but sometime later the 8th appeared so all is well. The weather at Mettingham has been wet and miserable, and pretty cold too by the sounds of it, so into the big wide world these ducklings go. Phoebs describes them practicing flying up and down the lawn. What freedom!
