We left after breakfast and faced the wind on the nose, which meant we had to motor the whole way over, just over two hours. A bit bumpy but nothing too bad. Quite a few sailing boats in their harbour, we were met by the island’s efficient mooring boat, and we were soon tied up and sorted.

We had a lovely snorkel to the reef from the boat. We saw a lovely Spotted moray eel, who got quite defensive when Rowan was diving down to photograph him, having had enough he disappeared into the tiniest bit of coral, not to be seen again. The fish life seemed to be in a much better condition than in the Cays. Lots of big parrot fish, and large collective groups of yellow and bigger blue fish. We saw lots of turtles which is always reassuring.
Once it cooled a bit we we went for a walk through the mangrove trees to a favourite beach of ours to see the sun set. the beach was lovely but the sunset was a bit hazy and dropped into cloud, no green flash today.

We went to the famous Basil’s bar for dinner, with Jayne Anne and Ashok Ghadia, who own a house on the island. Jayne Anne joined Rowan at the start of Virgin Money, and stayed with it until recently when it was sold off. Along the way she has earned herself a damehood and a couple of suits from Phoebs! We had a jolly evening, with Sam vaporising his first rum punch in record speed! We had a very tasty meal and lots of laughs. Ashok was born in Kenya too, so we always reminisce about that, there was plenty to catch up as we have not seen much of them in the past 10 years. Janey managed a little celebrity watching, which went straight over my head, some Swedish film producer or something.
We were the last to leave and when we got back to the boat Rowan read us a little night cap from Jayne Anne’s autobiography, Becoming a Virgin ……..
