Another day of relaxing. We had to stay another night, as we hopefully are getting our PCR test done by the nurse tomorrow morning. She has arranged to meet us at the dinghy dock, which seems a bit random, but could just work knowing the Caribbean! Got Mother’s day wishes from Phoebs who is flying back to the UK today from Sri Lanka, she has had an amazing holiday, the photos are stunning. Had a great chat to Luke, he had just had lunch with his cousin Lizzie who has just arrived in London from South Africa, she is a McKinsey-ite who has just landed herself an extremely good job working for an ethical VC fund. Han is out in the bush so out of contact, but she managed to leave behind a present for me on the boat. Very sweet – the new Ottolenghi Test Kitchen cookery book, addressed to the Reluctant Mariner! It’s full of store cupboard recipes, sooo good for the boat.

My present from Hannie
We had another long snorkel today, we ventured further along the mainland to a dive sight, it had good coral on enormous boulders, but not the teeming fish of the reserve. In fact we rather scarily came across a local guy spear fishing near us, the water was not as clear as yesterday and we were a little nervous he might not see us. I suspect the lack of fish is because it is heavily fished, there were a few houses nearby. On our way back we had a quick snorkel at Pigeon island but didn’t stay too long as the water was churned up and there were lots of jelly fish about.
Even though the lion fish are invasive and poisonous they are still spectacular, this is the first one we have seen this year, oops first live lion fish ….. we managed to drown two in the huge lobster cage that we dragged from Bequia to Canouan!
The afternoon was spent catching up on the Sunday papers, glad to be getting a small sense of optimism for Ukraine. Rowan did a Mother’s Day bbq for supper, with another glorious sunset.
