We had a very good night of sailing in consistent winds. We kept a reef in the main sail, and the Gennaker up and took it easy, still averaging about 8 knots. During the day we took turns to sleep as we were both pretty tired. A few big cruise liners and cargo ships about, obviously we are in the shipping route from the Panama Canal, but otherwise all went very smoothly. I got stuck into my bookclub book, Lessons in Chemistry which I’m thoroughly enjoying. We were too hot and tired to do much else. I think we had a bit of jet lag to catch up on, as we had been so busy getting the boat ready.

We had to jibe a couple of times to have a good wind angle, this slowed us down a bit which was perfect as we didn’t want to negotiate getting to the islands in the dark
