We set off before breakfast as we had a full day sailing ahead of us. Having successfully got Baby Spice up yesterday, she was hoisted again and made Rowan extremely happy. It was a nice gentle passage for Isobel, who was armed with her half sea sick patch behind her ear.

We entered the Portobello bay mid afternoon. There were a couple of square riggers and big charter sailing boats in the bay, a lot busier than last time. Once the heat of the day started to subside we headed into town in JeldJeldi to the dinghy dock at Francesco’s restaurant. We met him last time we were here and Rowan had booked him to give us a tour around the old forts tomorrow. He is an Italian anthropologist running a tiny pizza bar, a character of note! We went for a stroll around town, while Rowan and Chris went to deposit the rubbish bags, Isobel and I popped into a gallery that Phoebe and I found last time. Happily for me Phoebs persuaded Rowan to go and do some birthday shopping for me there, which I’m very excited about!

Francesco suggested we go and climb the steps up some old fort ruins to get a good sunset view of the bay which was well worth it. Very overgrown and with a rather narrow precarious path on the top we made it up and had stunning views of the bay.

We returned to Francesco’s restaurant for a delicious supper of his home made pizzas, they were the lightest crust and he assured us extremely digestible! It was a fun evening helped with some good cocktails, finished with enormous puddings. We had a very leggy German waitress serving us which kept us all entertained, along with a few other characters in the restaurant.
