Monday 19 January – the wind finally arrives

We woke up to a breeze after a very hot night, what a relief. We are a mile and a half off the equator, no wonder it is so hot! The wind has come as predicted. Our plans are coming together, Rowan has checked the wind forecast and it is best for us to leave tomorrow morning. Being anchored in the middle of the channel we were buffeted by the current and wind. Great conditions for doing my last pile of laundry, there was no no sign of the predicted rain. Rowan went for a last long snorkel while I stayed behind and did a much needed vacuum and mop of the entire boat. We have not had a proper clean since the Christmas guests, so it was a long overdue clean up. It means we set off tomorrow on our 4- 5 day passage to Wakatobi, with a clean boat, clean bedding and an empty laundry basket.

We watched a couple of osprey hanging out in the trees right next to us, Rowan saw the one catching a fish. We had a last spectacular sunset here, so atmospheric with the Imam call to prayer wafting over the water. It has been a stunning anchorage but we are both looking forward to moving on.

Look carefully for the well camouflaged ospreys in the tree

A crazy looking sky with the sunset colours catching some high clouds

Another great sunset, nearly on the equator
