Today is a public holiday for the fibreglass crowd, so nothing has started there and tomorrow is a public holiday for the sail loft guy – all rather curious!

In the marina looking towards the restaurant

Thick bush just beyond the end of the pontoon. John had a photo of a alligator over there, thank goodness George didn’t know when he jumped in to retrieve the fallen mosquito net!
Rowan got the Gennaker (Sporty) into the sail loft here at the marina. It is the old cinema/theatre house for the abandoned military base. A local guy has adapted it with areas cut into the stage so he can stand with the stage at waist level and sew the sails with his machine. Rowan just used the rest of the space as he is painting a UV strip on the edge to protect the sail. We then had to get half the sail bag off the boom as it has ripped again. That was a very heavy hot job getting it off. The bag was full of rain water, which didn’t help. The sail loft guy is going to add a bigger reinforced area, so hopefully it will be easier to close and less strain on the fabric.
Eddie the Uruguayan, came to tell us about the fresh market stall in the Pavillion which was a good call. I managed to stock up on lovely fresh veg and fruit, plus some fresh prawns. The result was a tasty Thai style stir fried prawn and noodle supper. I had forgotten how long it takes to shell, clean and devein the prawns, it took ages, but was worth it, they were very good. I got the last bundle of fresh basil, so I made some fresh pesto sauce, luckily I have loads of pine nuts and Parmesan cheese. Also managed to get some fresh eggs, our Colombian ones have had it, I gave a huge tray to John and warned him to check them for floaters!
