Monday 14 October – back to the Yasawas

The weather is not looking great for the next few days, so we have decided to return to the Yasawa island. Clear sunny weather is recommended for doing the narrow pass at the top of the island. We could do it only because we can retrace our track on the chart plotter! The sea was pretty rough with a big swell coming side on, but not much wind. We put the sails up and that seemed to chase away the wind, as it only got over 10 knots for about 10 minutes. So we motored most of the way back again, just a lot bouncier than on our way over. We went through the pass no problem, very grateful to our chart as the grey light is not good for looking out for shallow water.

All the boats had departed Champange beach anchorage, and it was looking rather rolly with the swell so we returned to the village anchorage. We got in mid afternoon, there was one other boat who we have met in the Lau group of islands, big wing foilers. We were pretty tired by the time we were safely anchored, that was pretty much the end of the day for us.

The photos never do it justice, besides the rain and cloud there was a big swell

Grey day with thick heavy clouds

Rowan managed to download some videos on his new fake GoPro, from our snorkel yesterday. Definitely not great quality, but thought these of the turtle were worth it
