We managed another cooked breakfast as it was pretty calm, quite an art keeping the pan and toaster on the rings in the rocking motion. We have one clamp on the main ring where you can secure the pot, but for the other two rings, it’s a case of watching like a hawk.
Another day of blue sea in whatever direction you look, two tankers passed our on our radar screen and that is it. We are sailing like a dream, Rowan is so happy at our progress under sail even as I wonder how much further north we can really go! The winds are behaving and the weather window is spot on for us. We even got the Genaker up for a little while.

No bites on the fishing line, and by afternoon Rowan discovered the line had been broken and we have lost the lure. I’m not convinced about the size of the lure, as it is so enormous, it would have to be a huge fish to take it, and I can’t think that we have the gear or experience to land anything quite so big….. but I live with an optimist!

Much needed afternoon siesta.
Finished Glass Castle which I thought was a very good read, such an insight into the homeless community, just the way some people would rather live than be constrained. Started our previous month’s book club book, The Places In Between by Rory Stewart the Tory MP who was a contender for PM. It’s about his walk across Afghanistan, the last leg for him to do, on his crossing of Asia by foot.
Today we got the Backgammon set out which we haven’t had out in years. So long in fact we have completely forgotten how to lay out the board and Rowan is convinced the instruction sheet is wrong! The fact that I won both games did nothing to convince him that the instruction sheet that came with the set is correct! To be fair the one game I only just pipped him, he only had two pieces left on the board.
Another gorgeous sunset. So incredible to get both a sunset and sunrise over the water in one day. After a delicious salad Nicoise made with the last of our Spanish anchovies from the deli in Grace Bay (we found it on the last day before lockdown) and prawns (from our bag in the freezer) we sat down to start watching the 3rd series of Fauda on Netflix, and sadly for some reason our Netflix won’t work anymore. So it was early to bed for me as I had been up since 4:30am, I did have a little afternoon doze, but bed was very welcome. Amazing that we can sleep through all the noise of the banging waves now. We’re definitely acclimatising!
