We wolfed our cooked breakfast down anxious to get into town to the fruit and veg market as we were running low on fresh produce. We managed to get the last avo at the market, but stocked up on very red tomatoes, passion fruit (granadillas) and salad stuff. Sadly the bakery had already run out of bread (our gas is running rather low for me to bake bread), I think the two days of holiday had increased the demand. So weird paying for everything in Euros!

Anse d’Arlet, definitely my favourite place on the island.

Our snorkelling spot
Lovely to see the town come to life after lockdown, people on the beaches, locals enjoying a good swim and loads of people enjoying themselves on the beach front. What a change from the ghost town we came to a month ago.
Right in front of us there if a rock sticking out that has a resident pelican, there are buoys all around it to alert boats to the hazard but also it is a great snorkelling spot. We had a wonderful snorkel in the late afternoon, obviously the fish are used to being fed as these little black and white stripey jobs followed us around the whole time. Lots of lovely coral and plenty of fish. No wonder the pelli loves it there! This is most probably the clearest water we have seen in Martinique.
Just the usual G&T sunset to end another very relaxing day. The only tension being finishing my book Sugar Money, set here and in Grenada, during the slave days, absolutely gruelling horrific story, but very evocative and clever. So much easier reading it now, being able to picture so much of it.
