We like our spot here and feeling rather lethargic, we just don’t don’t seem to have the oomph to move even though I think Rowan would enjoy going out for a sail. It seems a big effort when we have to leave early tomorrow morning to be in at the marina by 9am. Rowan reads whatever I’m reading at the moment, very frustrating as he reads at double the speed of me. We’ve both been reading the Dry today and comparing who we think the murderer is. Of course he finished mid afternoon while I plodded into the evening to catch up with, ‘oh my god it’s him!’. Next on our list is Black Rain Falling, a suggestion of our friend Stella’s. Another crime fiction, but written by a Grenadian, so should be topical. We went out in Jeldi Jeldi to the rocky shoreline to do some snorkelling there. Never as nice in breaking waves around rocks, the visibility wasn’t as good and not as many fish. So we decided to go back to our favourite pelican rock and took bread with us. Wow what a spectacle we had. The fish swarmed us, eating out of our hands. Mainly little black and white jobs and every now and again a different fish, but it was a wonderful sight with the sunshine coming through, and all the flashes of silver as the fish dart about. There are some huge trumpet sponges with huge craters in them that seem to have their own private little habitat with tiny gold fish darting around inside. We had a couple of large pipe fish who were either doing a very elusive courtship chase or being very territorial. Such fast swimmers. It was wonderful just lying on the calm waters watching the fish life go by. We also had clouds of thousands of tiny little shiny silver fish that swirled around without you ever seeing the beginning or end of the shoal. Our little black and white jobs would not leave us as they have cottoned on we were the bread bearers. Interestingly they could not swim through the clouds of little fish. It really is my kind of easy snorkelling, luckily we had rashies on and could spend a couple of hours out there in the ferocious sun.
Video with kind permission from Greg, our GoPro wasn’t charged!
Toasted our last night here with another stunning sunset. All ready for our early departure tomorrow morning.
