Friday 3 January – Man of War Bay

We headed off after breakfast going further around the eastern end of Waiheke island. This side of the island is more remote, there is a famous winery here called after the bay. We spotted our friends on the boat Scoots (Carol and Daryl) were here and we planned to meet them at the winery for lunch. They were walking up to Stony Batter from this bay with friends first. The weather was extremely variable, we were incredibly lucky to get a seat outside in sunshine for most of the time. Their friends Carol and Murray, keep a boat in Indonesia, they have been sailing around there for 6 years and absolutely love it. We have been getting mixed reports about Indonesia with the terribly polluted water, so it was good to hear such positive stories. We are hoping to have all the kids join us this Christmas at Raja Ampat in Indonesia. We had delicious burgers and rose wine from the vineyard. We had a very jolly time, we were very grateful to have the Scoots crew to help us lug JeldiJeldi back to the water. The tide had gone out and left her high and dry!

A lot of boats here all jostling about in the gusty winds. We had a very cosy night under a blanket, watching the Dupont movie, which was really shocking!
