Friday 27 September – Musket Cove

Not much to report today, we are slowly recovering from our long flight back and getting the boat back in shape. The dirt and dust on the boat was unbelievable, trying to get ourselves sorted before Rowan’s cousin Carol from New Zealand arrives on Sunday. When it started to get cooler we headed to Musket Cove marina for a walk. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect as it is the biggest congregation of boats we have seen in Fiji and I’m not too sure what all the attraction is. Turns out the marina is very nicely done, with a lovely outdoor pub, and a good grocery shop which we were not expecting. There are 3 or 4 big resorts, so there must be quite a few restaurants.

We went for a walk along a lovely shady road and came out onto the windward side of the island. It was good to stretch our legs. We came back to Rowan’s delicious slow cooked lamb stew. It was a spectacular sunset and a balmy calm evening. We were serenaded by the resort bands, quite something how the sound carries across the bay.

So many boats in the anchorage, you can see the reef between them and us, just deep enough for us to cross in the dinghy
