I was on the 6-9am shift and came up to a beautiful sunrise, a band of red above the horizon and below the clouds. We had kept Ginger Spice up all night and although we were not going that fast we went way up north which cost us a few positions! We are always telling ourselves it is not a race but we are all aware of our positions especially when you overtake someone. Hannah had both the highest and lowest winds during her shift that kept her on her toes, she got very depressed when the screen showed we had over 100 days to get to our destination!
Around lunchtime Ginger came down and the Main sail and Scary Spice went back up. This takes us just slightly south and what we really want to do now is go in a straight line all the way to Hiva Oa, our destination in the Marquesas. It was a real dilemma for poor Rowan especially as the winds are not doing what all the forecasts predict!
Otherwise it was quite a cloudy day so a very relaxing day, winds constantly around low teens. I decided to tackle my bedspread project with all the Molas (embroidery) that I bought in the San Blas, which is a very good distraction. We had an early supper as the sleepless nights are catching up on everyone.
