Checked out the hotel after breakfast. Rowan so excited to be sleeping on Polepole tonight. We had got the fridge and freezer working yesterday, so we did a mega shop at IGA the chain of big super markets here. They vary in quality and this sadly was nowhere near as good as the one In Turks and Caicos. Nevertheless we still managed to fill two trolleys.

We arrived at Polepole at midday in sweltering hot weather to find Devon and crew polishing all the chrome. The water maker had to be unpick-led and flushed before using – things did not go smoothly. With the first hiccup being that we thought we had the wrong size filters for a couple of hours, Rowan finally spotted the enormous collar on it and that took up the mystery gap. Phew what a relief, he was all set on getting out a knife to cut it which I was not so enthusiastic about, it’s like a huge cotton reel, covered in thread and I imagined it all unwinding into a terrible tangle. Then it was the inevitable air lock and calling the U.K. for help until it miraculously started working, pumping like fury with all our new solar! Then the bad news, we had a leak when the water pump was on, ie the loo flushing, taps on etc so our first night on board after a sweltering hot day we had a bottle of water each to shower with!
We also had to get cool Terry back to sort out electrics with our new batteries, he claimed it was his 30th birthday so we sweetened him with a bottle of wine and hope he returns Monday to sort out the last few things.
We went to bed exhausted and sweaty but relieved that our big Dyson fan we brought back with us worked brilliantly, keeping us cool and keeping the mozzies away.
