First day of curfew

We got up early for us, so that we could walk during our two hours of freedom, between 7-9am. We tried going up a little road next to the marina to have a look at the view, but we were prevented from entering at the barrier. So we returned to the main road that runs along this part of the island. The road looked brand new and in very good condition. Rowan told me that at one of our Monday night BBQ’s, someone had said that a wealthy developer who bought a property down the far end of the road, decided to pay for the road before building his house so that there was good access. No sooner had he completed the road and his house, when he was told that there was a dispute on the ownership of his property, the guy was so incensed he packed up and left! Who knows what the truth is. There are a lot of smart residential homes along this stretch, it’s slightly off the beaten track. We turned down some side roads, looking at the homes and plots for sales. We enjoyed picking the places to pieces, with our likes and dislikes. Actually it is the soft landscaping of palm trees and thick vegetation that wins every time.

Our routine that we are pretty much sticking to, is that we have a late big cooked breakfast, skip lunch and early-ish supper.

We then set about some of the many chores that we have delayed doing. We knew we had leaks in the bilges but did not know what was causing it. Rowan decided to get into the engine compartment, which I had no idea was big enough! Then I had to lock him in and power hose all the joints, so that he could see where it was leaking. That was pretty steamy intense work, that had to be done in both engine lockers. He found the leaks, and with his new proficient DIY skills he went to town with the gooey sikaflex gun of goo! He successfully managed to seal down the areas causing grief with quite a lot of goo in all sorts of other places too! Next step was to remove the offending water and luckily our German neighbours managed to produce a wet vac (which ingeniously was just a set of garden hoses and a pump attached to a cordless drill – Rowan was soo envious!) that did the job brilliantly. Then he had to go down and wash out the bilges with anti grease and then dry out with extra heavy duty night time sanitary pads (an essential purchase on our last supermarket run)! I wonder if some yachtie is having the last laugh with this hot tip, but it did the trick and R is very chuffed with his gleaming dry extra tight locking engine lockers! That was certainly enough DIY for one day.

View from our deck. Jobiska the boat in front, is the couple from Beccles.

The real reason for this photo is you can see the aquamarine colour of the water reflected on the bottom of the clouds, a phenomena of these waters. Below is a close up.

With our afternoon curfew walk in the other direction, up the creek, the day seemed to fly by. So exhausted that I fell asleep during our first attempt to watch anything on Netflix, even though it was episode 2 of the very funny Sex Education!
