Finally given permission to leave the BVI!

We headed to the far western point of Tortola called West End, the only place where yachts can sign out of customs, typical that it should be the wrong end for our departure tomorrow. We have 300 miles to go east, into the wind, so going west was just adding to our misery! We finally got our email clearance from the Health Commissioner this morning, we decided we could not risk going to customs tomorrow, a Saturday, as it may not be open.

We found the customs house and we were delighted to deal with very helpful staff who had no qualms about PolePole leaving BVI waters with a different named skipper! (remember we had to pay for a skipper to bring the boat into the BVI). All that worry for nothing, we are on such a tight schedule to meet the buyer in Martinique, any hiccup with the release would have been tricky. Phew, it has made things a lot less stressful knowing we are safely on our way tomorrow.

Admiring the beaches and the coast as we pass by.

We decided we should get a bit of our journey east over with today. The wind was not great and heading straight into it, it was a long slog back past the BVI islands. We did enjoy looking at loads of gorgeous beaches along the way, I can see why it is so popular. We thought we might stop off at a recommended Sandy beach, but then thought better of it. We will be doing lots of motoring east tomorrow so the further east we get today the better, at least it is comfortable. We finally got into Savannah Bay not far from Necker just as the light was beginning to fade. Perfect timing.

Navigating our way between the islands.

Our companion.

Finally at Savannah Bay for the night, not another boat in sight.
