Rowan was looking at where we should go for our Covid test in Carriacou, there were a couple of options. He then looked at the cruisers network (sailing social media) and discovered that there had been a lot of issues with Covid test results from Carriacou not being accepted. They were not going to the official hospital test centre and they go by ferry to St Georges – twice a week. This only left us Monday and Wednesday, and with a 48 hour result window, it was all too risky to meet our requirements for entering Antigua and meeting Luke on the 13th. So back we headed to St George’s. We departed after doing our first load of laundry in the washing machine since being back, thank goodness it all worked.

Leaving the small anchorage at Saline Island

The only thing to sweeten the day, was that Rowan could finally get the sails out. We have had the wind against us the whole time so far. He got the Gennaker (the big sail ) out and we had a lovely sail passed all the volcanic area once again. We went a slightly different route behind Rhonda Island, and saw what looked like relatively new lava flows. Rowan spotted a blowhole, near some lava, it didn’t coincide with the waves and I’m convinced it is a volcano vent or something. There was an island with an incredibly large eroded arch, which is called London Bridge.

Blow hole??

As we took the sails down to enter the marina, our electric winch imploded. We tried in vain to get it all back together but could not work it out. We went back into Port Louis marina, where our soul mates from the Dom Republic were very surprised to see us!

Exhausted we went to the marina restaurant for supper where we saw a few older sun soaked South Africans.
