Some of you wouldn’t believe that Rowan is being so conscientious about keeping his boat clean! He was mortified to find the roof of the boat all covered in bird shit the other day and had to spend a good hour scrubbing it clean! Luckily we had our heavy rain afterwards and the boat was pristine. Many evenings over sundowners we watch the Brown Boobies coming home to roost on top of the boat masts out at anchor. We watch them swoop and reject various masts until they decide on their perfect one for the night. If the boat owner notices there is always a bit of a kerfuffle which is a fun sport to watch! That was until we were picked on this evening. Rowan was having none of it, clapping and shooing made zero impact. So he got the main halliard (rope) loose and tried to flick the rope to try and unseat him. The Booby was having none of it and just gave a few pecks at the annoying rope. Finally the Booby thought the better of it and departed, we were able to finish our sundowners in peace on the trampoline out front, in the blissful evening breeze. Only when we went back to the cockpit for supper did we notice the Booby was back happily ensconced. We let him win that battle and hope there is not too much fishy excrement to clean up tomorrow!

Booby looking down at Rowan thinking how pesky he is!

Finally enough is enough!
We were able to order fresh fruit and veg from the farmer’s market, and went into the dock to pick it up. Loads of dinghies were there as the bakery, heritage meats and fresh produce were all being delivered. The quarantine officials are extremely pleasant and conscientious, making sure we are only allowed onto the dock if we are wearing a mask, and while we waited in the shade of the tents (and not allowed a step further) they came round checking we were all 2 meters apart. So organised, sounds like they need to give the UK a few tips! We got back to Pole Pole and unpacked loads of home grown goodies, including avocados, mangoes, delicious little guavas, salad leaves, pakchoi, tiny little red peppers that looked more like chillies and okra. Plus two pints delicious homemade yoghurt and a jar of mango compote. We also got two tuna steaks and smoked sausages from Heritage meats. What a delicious haul! I’m not a huge fan of cooking okra in case it goes slimy, so I did a bit or research on tips to avoid the slime. I landed up dry roasting them with the little peppers in my coconut oil (from Bungay!) and fennel pollen (from Napa!). It was a great success, no slime and great flavour, even Rowan enjoyed it who had been very skeptical.

View from the loo! I was very surprised to look out and see another liner had snuck into town today

The port has been very busy today.
