We really are getting into the slow pace of life in our peaceful little bay. I finished my book this morning which I really enjoyed. I’m now going back to an old book club book that I never finished called ‘Sugar Money’, so much easier to read this time round, as it is set here in Martinique and Grenada during the slave trade era in the 1700’s. The first few chapters are set in St Pierre, with the backdrop of Mt Pelee.

In the afternoon we tried to find a path in one of the mangrove bays that would lead us over to a beach, but we had no luck in finding it. Rowan managed to put some wings on the outboard motor to get it onto the plane much more easily, which was a great success. We landed up going to the other side of the bay to see some kite surfers in action. Rowan wanted to see if he could get lessons, but it was a French family on a year’s sabbatical, that were on the little beach. It is amazingly shallow in the bay but these two surfers were having a wonderful time in the onshore wind, getting lifted so high out of the water. They were obviously very good at it.

Another evening in the cool breeze out on the trampoline, this time we toasted the Egrets coming home to roost with a deliciously chilled rose and a bag of pistachios. What a treat!
