A downpour all morning and it’s the dry season!

Must be to do with all the volcanic ash in the air that it has poured down with rain for most of the day. It was almost like a white out. Luckily we did not have anything urgent to do as there was no going out. We must have had a good few inches, JeldiJeldi filled up with water. Finally around 3pm the rain eased up, which was a good time to move into the marina, we had our same berth as last time. So comforting when everything is familiar. Once firmly attached to the dock we decided to get some exercise by walking to Pigeon island. Quite a walk from the marina through a rather dodgy part of beachfront. It seems as though they have a reasonable amount of drug crime. We were apprehended by security when we got near the resort beaches, but luckily they let us through and obligingly even organised a little boat for us to cross the river. We finally got to the Island, which was connected to the mainland in the 70’s. Sadly it was closed for everyone on a Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday open for locals and the weekends for ‘Internationals”. Very sad as it looked like a good walk, with loads of ruins from the old fort. By the time we walked there and back we had done a decent walk, through the back streets of Rodney Bay.

Pouring rain.

Our walk back from Pigeon Island.
