A 12km hike around the mountain in the midday heat

The French lady, Sophie and her daughter arrived on their paddle board just before 8am, Rowan invited them on board which was a bit of a shock to me as I was still in bed! She does like to talk, we finally managed to have a very late breakfast.

We finally headed into town to get some much needed exercise. We loved wandering along the streets admiring their lovely old houses. We landed up walking 12 kms on tiny roads around the mountain behind Laborie, and up 70 floors, not bad in the ferocious sun. It was great admiring all the homes, everyone seems to have great pride in their properties with lovely gardens. At times we were on knife edge ridges, absolutely alarming if cars were ever to pass each other. We had some wonderful views of the unspoilt rain forest and then after an exhausting uphill we looked back at stunning views of the Pitons, so different from this angle. We stopped to chat to may people along the way, a few stopped in cars to ask if we were ok. One guy explained that seeing whities walking out here would be a very big surprise for the locals. White means money, and anyone with money would be in a car not walking, especially in these heat! We found a little road side bar to have some chilled water which was a real tonic. We finally got back around 3pm and found a lady selling delicious chicken roti, which we ate at the beach.

It was early to bed fo us when we finally got back to the boat.
