We are booked into the marina at Opua tomorrow, the same place we came to when we entered NZ. We decided to head south and find an anchorage back in the Bay of Islands so that we get into the marina in the morning. We put the the sails up even though the wind was barely getting up to 10 knots, which meant we had a lovely slow pootle back to the Bay of Islands, staying out at sea rather than doing the passage between the islands. Loads of fishing boats out, and sea birds, obviously a good day for catching fish. The clouds kept coming and going, we finally found a protected anchorage on the northern side of the bay, two boats were around but both left shortly after we arrived in the afternoon. The wind picked up, but it was perfectly comfortable for us. We managed 3 episodes of the Diplomat no problem!

We will miss this morning view, the water is so flat the reflections are great

I tried to find a better angle of the Duke’s Nose on the way out, this might be it!

Looking back

Beautiful elegant super yacht with an unpronounceable name

Heading out the entrance to the bay

Lovely flat seas full of birds and fishing boats

The little clump of islands near our anchorage
