Lovat and family fly out Friday morning so we need to get back to LBJ today, great timing as we have just run out of fruit, eggs and tomatoes. Our essentials.
Rowan took Lovat and Monique for a drift snorkel from the resort to the Mushroom rock island. the current whizzed them along, they saw plenty of nice coral and loads of fish including a turtle. I was dropped off with the kids at the beach, much easier to entertain on the beach, David was not at all happy to be left behind. I had to carry him under my arm as he tried to wriggle free, we got to the shade on the beach under a lovely old tree. Amalie was too cute telling me she would help calm David down. I put a towel down and said I had a treat if he stopped crying, luckily I had emergency choccie biscuits in my bag. He cheered up immediately, we spent a very happy hour making sandcastles and collecting shells. Some Chinese kids came and joined us, we could not communicate but everyone got along suitably.
We got going promptly afterwards arriving at the anchorage around midday. We found a mooring ball well away from the reef, it was very easy to get onto as there was no current. It was boiling hot so we got the awning up and kept the kids busy on the trampoline, while Monique packed up all their belongings. We went to a beach the far end of town, where Rowan had found a Pizza restaurant that had great reviews. We had hoped to enjoy some time on the beach, but sadly it was rather a dirty beach. The restaurant was a little walk away on the main road, thankfully the pizzas were really good, with a proper pizza oven. We were the only customers, it was mid afternoon, so not too surprising nobody else was eating. The kids found some swings on the beach on the way back to the dinghy, which they thoroughly enjoyed, little David was fearless.
We enjoyed our last evening all together, it has been such a wonderful week, we can’t believe how it has sped by.
