Monday 2 Feb – heading west

We woke up to brighter skies and calm winds which was a relief as we set off west. Engines on heading straight into the wind, it was relatively comfortable considering the conditions. We had an easy crossing to the next island that Rowan had ear marked as a good sheltered anchorage. We got in just after lunch into some brilliant blue waters. The sandy patch we needed was just away from the lovely long beach, near some brown cliffs which were more unusual. We relaxed all afternoon, glad to be settled and well anchored as storm clouds loomed on the horizon. Thankfully they just skirted past us, but they did look alarming, we saw two water spouts that were right down to the sea, ugh not what you would want to be caught up in. By the time I got my phone out to take a photo the spouts they had receded up into the clouds. We decided to stay here another day, as the wind conditions look slightly better for us to depart on Wednesday. I’m always happy to have a lie in!

Our brown beach that gave us such good shelter

Our progress west, the little island we are heading to

None of these rocks show on the charts, we are relying heavily on satellite images

Another Bajo village on the water

Our next anchorage in lovely colour water

Rocky cliffs near us, we are keeping clear of the reef

Stormy weather skirted us, this water spout was connected to the sea but by the time I got a photo it had receded into the clouds

Our sunset with the stormy clouds
