Monday 1 December – a very stormy day

We woke up to a massive storm, the thunder woke me up, which is quite something as the sound of the fans and aircon usually drowns out any other noise. We are really making good use of our NZ installed aircon, thank goodness Rowan had the foresight to get it installed. We were meant to go Manta searching with one of the local Homestays, but with the stormy weather it did not happen. Rowan and Clint went out and were lucky enough to see a Manta, it did not hang about, but at least Clint has seen one, as they leave tomorrow. It was another day of opening and closing windows and hatches, it is so hot even when it rains it only brings brief relief.

It was a day of relaxing, not much we could get up to. We thought we saw Mantas around the boat, Clint jumped into the water, but the current was so strong he came straight back on board. We had another huge storm late afternoon, the wind really whipped up so much it ripped my awning and broke a couple of the straps that attach it to the boat. Rowan managed to haul it down in the middle of the storm to rescue it from being shredded. An hour later the storm had passed, it was clear skies and calm again!

Dense rain forest/jungle in front of us with a family living at the little beach.
