Friday 28 November – meeting up with the Yacht Shonandra

We met Edu and Kamen at the island Batanta when we met up with our friends on Navisana. Shonandra was on the other mooring ball here at Kri, so we planned to meet them at a Homestay for lunch. We went and had another long drift snorkel in the morning, always something to see including a big shark that only Xavi saw. We had a very good Homestay lunch of fried chicken, tofu and a green vegetable, all very tasty. The homestay has a lovely location right on the western tip of Kri with white sand beaches all around. Edu and Kamen have a very cute daughter called Mariana, who had so much energy to burn, Kamen is from Malaysia, speaks fluent English and Bislama, so can talk to all the locals which is so helpful. Edu is Spanish but grew up in France, and worked in London where he met Kamen. They have been living in Melbourne and sailed from Brisbane up here.

We all went for a very good snorkel on the other side of Kri, the coral was fantastic, the highlight was seeing loads of turtles. We invited them all over for evening drinks which went on a while so we ended up have a late supper of all our delicious cheeses. It was a fun evening getting to know them better.
