We had planned to visit Tiritiri island, a bird sanctuary, on our way to Gulf Harbour marina where we are leaving PolePole for a week while we join Rowan’s cousin Roy for Christmas. Sadly the wind was against us and we were not able to anchor and visit so we went straight to the marina. It was a bit of a nightmare as the end of the T dock that the marina gave us had two huge pillars. We could not get in from the front or back as we were wider than the gap they wanted us to slide in sideways with the marina dinghy pushing us in, but we were still too big. Finally they gave us a different berth that was a lot easier. What a relief to be finally in. Rowan needed a siesta and I washed all the sparrow poo off the boat, it was unbelievable what a mess they had made.
We spotted our friend’s boat Scoots, nearby, and it wasn’t long before they came over to say hello. They are heading out for Christmas. We went and ate at a little restaurant near our end of the harbour, an enjoyable sunny meal.
I am going to sign off the blog now for a while, as we are on land for Christmas with Roy and Libby. Wishing all of you a very merry Christmas!
