With the light winds coming in the right direction we decided to have a sail over to Barrier island. It was a lovely sunny day with very gentle winds. In these great conditions and with competent crew on board I finally managed to persuade Rowan to put up his new pink Genoa sail that he bought at the beginning of the year. It went up on its new furler perfectly and gave us great speeds in very light wind. We have run out of Spice girl names to call the sail after, so have settled on the name of the singer – Pink, which is very appropriate. Very impressed Rowan chose the sail colours all on his own, you will be surprised to know I wasn’t even consulted!
We went to an anchorage down one of the little inlets in Fitzroy bay, that we have not been to before, there were a few boats. We found a lovely spot and had a very relaxing evening. We took the dinghy, exploring far down the inlet into the mangroves and were surprised to find some baches tucked way down the little river. We’ve just discovered the name bach for NZ holiday homes comes from bachelor pad. We returned home for some mean games of Farkle, a dice game.
