Thursday 22 May – woken up by the cruise liner!

We could not believe it when we woke up to loads of boat activity that it was a huge cruise liner in the bay. All the locals were screaming back and forth to Mystery island to set up stalls. Rowan has read that the locals believe the island is haunted so nobody lives there.

All day long the boats ferried passengers between the liner and Mystery island in their orange rafts. It was a good day to be on PolePole doing chores. We had a mountain of laundry to get through and a general much needed sort out. Rowan had a very sweaty time cleaning out the bilges which was a mammoth job. I did a thorough clean out of our floor board hatches which make a terrible noise when we walk on them because they are not flat. Rowan also had to sort out the sail bag, we had left without putting it on properly. We also found that our haulout rope for the boom had got so badly chafed it was hanging on by a thread. One of the boat workers told me about a NZ product called 30 Seconds Mould Off, I’ve discovered it is brilliant at getting mould off all my hats and various bits and pieces around the boat. Very satisfying having my hats restored.

That was it for the day, we were just admiring the sunset when another yacht pulled in so we have company for the night.

Always cloud over the island

Sorry more sunsets!
