Saturday 20 September – a quiet day

An excellent day to get our long overdue laundry done. I turned down a walk on the beach as I got so badly bitten by sand flies here, the only place we have suffered. I’m covered in bites and they itch like crazy, I’m desperate not to scratch them as they will get infected in the sea water. Rowan went for a good snorkel out at the breaking waves, he saw a few nice things, including an eagle ray.

Otherwise it was a chill day watching the Brahminy kites fishing, and a few Osprey cruising above us, with the occasional Frigate bird. So many fish for them, this must be paradise for these fish eating raptors. It is a very tranquil bay to sit and while away time waiting for wind, only the one family live on the island, and they kids do not come out to pester us! We plan to head west to the top of New Hanover island tomorrow no matter what the conditions, just generally heading in the right direction to Indonesia.
