Monday 2 June – loads of catching up

We decided to spend the day here. The only other boat here was a motor cat that left in the morning. We went and had a snorkel in the morning. Most of the coral was in a really bad way, with little pockets of regrowth. The big earthquake last December may have caused some damage. Interestingly there were a lot more fish than at Dillon’s Bay, but the coral was not nearly so good. We tried a couple of spots and then retired to the boat for the afternoon.

We had the bay to ourselves briefly, before a huge 53m Super yacht arrived with an army of crew all dressed in uniform. They managed to go closer into shore than us which was quite surprising as we thought it was full of coral heads. They did have a tender out scouting the area which must have been helpful. Once they were anchored the staff went and set up a tent and kitchen on the beach for them. We planned to have drinks on the beach and I think we worried them when we headed straight to their beach…….. really just to check them out. We made our way through the low tide coral heads to a little beach further along and had a lovely sunset drink. We definitely did not want to navigate through the coral in the dark so left soon after the sun set. It is pitch dark here by 6pm. The day slipped by with loads of reminiscing.
