We had been in contact with Isobel and Chris in Panama City, Isobel was delighted to start her day spotting parrots and toucans in the city. We made our way back to Corazon de Jesus airport which we are really getting to know well now. There had been a lot of consternation about the Thomas’s baggage weight allowance, as Rowan has been fuelling his addiction for chandlery items, which they are bringing over, plus our new blackout window blinds and big boat hook, let alone tea for me! All went to plan as they scraped in on their weight allowance for the tiny plane which was a combination of body weight and luggage weight. They felt a little nervous when their pilot turned out to be enormous…..this was going to be a very heavy plane load. Amazingly all went to plan and the little plane buzzed in exactly on time.
Their arrival was like a second Christmas, one dedicated bag for us kept on giving, Chris is a master packer! In between the huge volume of chandlery items they managed to squeeze in 6 boxes of tea, two bottles of tahini, marmalade, a huge truckle of delicious cheddar cheese, 5 boxes of chocolate, boxes of short bread and nuts! They know us well!

We made our way over to Coco Banderos to the far set of islands which only had one boat last time we visited. There were already four boats here. This definitely seems to be peak season, things are definitely busier. We had two good snorkels one from the back of the boat to some nice coral and then we took JeldiJeldi over to the Robinson Crusoe looking island which has a wreck we snorkelled over. We saw a very shy shark lurking under a coral cave, and quite a few decent fish and some good coral.

The afternoon saw a few celebrations as the boat parts the Thomas’s brought out fixed a few things. The gas lifters on the cockpit hatch which has been propped open by Rowan’s sandal since leaving Colombia was fixed. The shower nozzle at the back of the boat was replaced and we can shower once again after a swim. The flap had broken covering the tap and the sun had baked the nozzle which had just got so brittle and yellow it broke. Plus the blinds in the saloon have been reattached with the new parts so we don’t have dangling string and clothes pegs trying to keep the blinds up. What a successful afternoon!
We went to the island and had sunset drinks on the beach, celebrating with a bottle of rather delicious pink bubbles. We had our large red snapper for supper, that Eben had organised for us. A great start to the Thomas’s stay.

Our walk around the island, trying to boost Isobel’s step count!
