Wednesday 18 January – Goodbye to the Kirbys

It was a quick motor back to Nargana to get the Kirbys to their midday flight at Corazon de Jesus. A good sign was that we could see the skyline of the mountains for a change, not too much cloud today. Rowan was taking them over to the island airport when the plane arrived spot on time, just buzzing over their heads in JeldiJeldi. The Kirbys have a couple of nights in Eco Lodge on Gatun lake, the middle area of the Panama Canal route. We think they are incredibly brave renting a car to drive the couple of hours to their destination, the roads and drivers are notorious here!

We then pootled off and decided to find an anchorage nearby as we pick up our friends Isobel and Chris tomorrow. We had hoped to anchor at Green Island but there were about 8 boats anchored already, so we opted for this little island where we had to navigate our way between the coral. Luckily the sun was fully out and Rowan had put in all the way points from the guide book. We shared this idyllic spot with one other monohull and had a wonderfully stay. We had a bit of cleaning and sorting out to do, and rounded off the evening watching a movie set on an island off Ireland, great acting and incredible scenery but a frustrating story!
