Saturday 4 March – we’re all losers!

Everyone lost the bet, the trades never materialised. Still no sign of wind for us, beginning to feel very persecuted as boats on either side report wind. All models show we should be in the Trade winds, but all we have had is squall after squall. The squalls don’t have much wind in them and what there is moves around 360 degrees. The only relief is that it has rained or been cloudy all day long which I find a very welcome break, my energy levels improve dramatically. Plus a bonus is that Stinky is still working, at any moment it might go so don’t be surprised if you suddenly don’t hear from me in a while.

Everyone got busy in their own way. Started off with Nevil making a very impressive breakfast, poached eggs with Hollandaise sauce……. even had to crack open some wine for the sauce. The girls organised an exercise class that Nevil joined in on, rotating around three stations. I repaired the torn cover of our hatch that Phoebs had made for us out of black out material from NY. They work an absolute treat on the hot days, not letting a fraction of light in, I’ve discovered it has a rubbery layer which must be the blackout. I also put up our new fairy lights that Han brought out, good jobs for a cool day.

Everyone is coping well with the shifts and lots of good spirits, even when we are so desperate for wind! Rowan used some of the opened wine in his risotto to add to the delicious slow cooked chicken which had us drooling all afternoon. Everyone heads to bed around 7-8pm, we are all managing our sleep.
