The wind is dieing down for the week end so we thought we would make our way back to the Tobago Cays. Good excuse to get some sailing in and we are successfully managing to get our big Gennaker sail up and down with no issues (hope I’m not speaking too soon!). We certainly are not keeping it up over 23 knots anymore thank goodness!
We headed for a little anchorage that has some good coral on the far side of Rameau Bay on Canouan Island. This side of the island has a few very exclusive resorts, so it is incredibly unspoilt to look at. Once we were safely anchored we went for a snorkel around the coral headland. Sadly the visibility was not that great ,the water was really churned up, there were some nice big bits of coral and the best thing we saw was a spotted moray eel which was fun. We went around to the rather gorgeous looking exclusive resort, not a soul on the beach but we found some staff at the beach restaurant. The accommodation is all at the top of the hill. We asked if they were open to outsiders and they said yes, just a few protocols, they showed us the menu which got us drooling, then they gave us the shocker …..it was US$500 each just to have the privilege of setting foot onto the resort, including dinner but not drinks! Such a shame 4 staff down there and not a single customer. The place was very nicely done, a real hide away, a lot of money spent on it obviously, apparently all the sand for the beach was imported.
We returned to our delicious BBQ’d lamb chops on board and a fantastic sunset all on our own, really magical, and dreamt about what we could spend $1000 on!

A very happy sailor……..taking a straight photo on the waves is a challenge

Our quiet spot on the far end of Rameau Bay

Countryside is looking so dry even though we seem to be getting a lot of rain.

Clouds building up over Canuoan Island

Looking across to Sandy Lane marina on Canouan with Union island in the distance.

Tonight’s sunset was exceptional as it went through various stages

Reflecting pink on the hillside behind us

The sky was dramatic which ever way you looked.
