We had breakfast, dropped the lines and set sail for Union island. We had good winds and kept windward of Canouan, coming through the reef south of the Tobago Cays. Then straight across to Chatham bay going north around the island. It was a good sail with some big short waves.

Leaving Mustique

A few weary bodies!
We arrived just after lunch and found Luke walking along the beach. He was looking for Cairan, Luke had walked over from the town of Clifton and Cairan with his broken toe had got a taxi. It is a magnificent bay with no road down to the beach. Just a few local bars on the beach and one very low key Italian resort down the far end. Luke finally walked back up to the ridge, found Cairan, bringing him gingerly down in his flip flops!

The Italian place with the big reserve behind, stunning trees and natural bush

Local bars along the beach

We went for a lovely sunset walk along the beach before heading to Sunset cove for supper. Duco and Menno were in the bay too and joined us for another jolly dinner of lobster and red snapper. We were surprised at the delicious meal, the male staff all seemed to have inhaled way too much weed, one guy in particular, Jason who had a permanent vacant huge wonky, toothy smile!

42 boats seeking shelter, most left the next day

The owner of the restaurant claims to do all the boat documentation for arrivals and departures, as Union is the last in the chain of islands before Grenada. Turns out he just provides transportation to Clifton town, you still have to appear in person. So Rowan will have to go to town tomorrow to get Luke and Cairan released from the boat papers.

Dinner
Us oldies pootled off back to PolePole, leaving the 4 young men drinking a lot more rum punches! We heard them pass by a while later, Luke and Cairan stayed the night with Menno and Duco who are on their rented yacht. There was no way Cairan could walk up the hill in the dark, in flip flops.
