The wind returns, off to shelter in Clifton on Union Island

The winds are back so we have decided to head to the main town on Union Island called Clifton. It is a big kite surfing centre, and has a big reef that protects the harbour. We anchored safely in very windy conditions but the PolePole is staying very stable with no rocking which is good news.

Union Island’s crazy skyline. Very hazy day and threats of a dusting of Sahara sand, which we had last year. Very fine red dust that made a real mess of PolePole.

A bar on a tiny bit of reef at the edge of the harbour, only accessible by boat

We had a good walk in the afternoon to the other side of the island and found Sparrow’s bar with a lovely little beach.

The beach shelters here all have these very pointy witches hat on the top!

A lovely sunset with the fishermen coming home for the night, we spotted Romeo returning from the Cays, this is where he lives.
